Over the years, France has regularly shown how Islamaphobic it is. From the Hijab ban in 2010 to the depiction of the Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H in the Charlie Hebdo magazines in 2012 to the Burkini ban in 2016. France has never been a welcoming place for Muslims. Islamaphobia is rooted in racism.
Macron promised voters he would bridge the gaps between Islam and France but his policies have actually deepened the divides.
He’s also been very ‘Israel has a right to defend itself’ since October 7 2023.
However, in recent weeks Macron has begun to grow a conscience… Or perhaps it’s a spine. He actually banned Israeli companies from competing in the Euronavel Exhibition in France although that decision has since been overturned by the court. He also quite rightly reminded Satanyahu that Israel wouldn’t exist without the European Union and he condemned the pager attacks by Israel in Lebanon. He’s even called for a ban on weapons sales to Israel if they are going to keep bombing Palestine and Lebanon. Then he flip flopped.
The problem here is, Macron seems like he wants to be on the right side of history, but Israel probably has something incriminating on him or on someone he loves or cares for.
He needs to be more forceful with his comments and his power. We ALL know Israel is committing a 2020’s version of the Holocaust. If he would just forget whatever they have on him and do the right thing, he could lead the West to the right side of history.
