So in the last week of October… Kind of. Desiblitz.com had a literature festival. I was on the emerging writers panel alongside some other emerging writers. There was Anisa Butt, Davina Bhanabhai and Naushad ‘Nash’ Ramji. We all came from different walks of life and are on different journey’s.
As you may know, I kind of had my start at Desiblitz.com, and then I did my Master of Arts in Professional Creative Writing and during my time at university, I self published and hybrid published some poetry. I’ve written a children’s book which I’m trying to get traditionally published and I’m writing my crime novel plus my contemporary sci-fi novel.
Anisa Butt is an actress but she does Bollywood movies and is a performance spoken word poetess. Davina Bhanabhai is writing a book and Nash has been traditionally published!
Everyone was really lovely and the audience actually got involved and asked questions. It was really interesting and I was genuinely surprised at the turnout. I even made a connection with another future author.
I was very nervous prior to the event, especially when it came to reading out one of my pieces. At one point I really struggled but it was worth it because it was raw and I was vulnerable plus I got an ovation.
I’m a bit late in posting this because I’ve had loads going on, but I wanted to thank Desiblitz for having me. I also wanted to thank Pamela Jabbar, Aman Dhillon, Indi Deol and Fiona Dye for organising the event and being so welcoming. It was a great experience! Thank you for allowing me the space to showcase both my work and myself!
