Oh My God! Oh My God! Oh My God!
Yes… I know I’m repeating myself. I have finally completed a story. It’s my children’s book and it has pictures. Well it will have when I get an illustrator to draw them!
I’m really excited by this though! For one… it’s a story with a beginning, middle and end. Two, it contains themes that people and children both have to deal with and those themes I feel are actually important. Three… I’m so close to having a completed book… illustrations too. I’ve found an illustrator but haven’t yet set a contract up with them.I have the illustrations in my head. Yet I don’t have the skills to draw. Either free hand or on ProCreate.
I’ve done some research into Literary Agents and I’m getting a few Beta readers. From a variety of ages. This is technically only a first draft but I’m open to feedback.
Initially I was going to self publish but what I realised is… Do I lose anything by reaching out to Literary Agents? Erm… no 👎. So I’m following a few on Twitter now. Some aren’t currently accepting submissions but I think my top three are. I’ve found around 12 Literary Agents I’m considering. I need to create a table for when they’re accepting submissions. If I get all rejections… 😱😭 which I don’t think I will, I will then just self publish. After all I’m from an Ethnic Minority in the children’s publishing world. I also know I have what it takes to be the next big thing in children’s writing.
I’m just waiting to receive my feedback from my other Beta readers so I can make any necessary changes.
I’ve found some guidance for query letters online. Through Reedsey and other websites. I even have an idea for a TikTok video that could potentially🤞🏼 go viral but I’ve never really made a video like this before. My friend Kitten’s boys are lined up to help me with this. Well, I’ve requested their assistance but they haven’t agreed yet since I’ve only spoken to their mum so far.
