Deadlines Always Looming

Today… I finally handed in a piece I began working on over a year ago. This piece was originally meant to be handed in during January 2021! But, then I had a guest lecturer come in and discuss Crime so ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ I did a complete 360 and decided to hand in my Crime piece.

The piece I handed in today, is a blend of contemporary Sci-Fi and Graphic Medicine.
Although I havent changed the writing, I did have to draw the images to get the graphic element included ๐Ÿ˜… and drawing โœ๏ธ doesn’t come to me as easily as writing does.

I can picture things in my mind but translating them is the difficult thing. All my book covers were my vision but I didn’t create them. Designers actually did the work on those. However, I think I’m improving ๐Ÿ˜Œ. I managed to draw a spider ๐Ÿ•ท with procreate and I did the drawings for my graphic novel using a paper and markers. So perhaps ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ I’ll hone the skills. I even did a splashpage!

My issue was actually about getting my physical drawings on my piece. My tutor Clari told me how to scan them using my iPad but they are scanned as a PDF and my word document wouldn’t allow me to add them… Or maybe I just didn’t know how to. I’m not especially tech savvy. Instead I found a snipping app on my phone and turned my scans into JPEGs and added them as images to my word document. It did work… yay! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ๐ŸŽ‰

This semester is almost over… woo and Ramadan starts tomorrow… Double woo. I’m planning to do my own drawings for my children’s book ๐Ÿ“– and I’m going to invest in Atticus so I can do my own formatting and go back to Independent publishing. It’s just so much easier. I really want to release my crime novel through Kindle Vella but currently it’s not open to non USA residents or it is but not in the UK ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง
